LOCATION
The Gateway to the Sanges Ranch is a beautiful recreational and
grazing property located in the heart of the Wet Mountain Valley, just a
few miles south of the town of Westcliffe, Colorado. Westcliffe, the
county seat and quaint community of 500, is located in central southern
Colorado. Custer County is large with a total area of approx. 740 square

tenth least populous Colorado County, while boasting some of the finest

place offers it all. Pueblo is approximately 50 miles east via Highway
96. Colorado Springs is roughly a 1½ hour drive to the northeast and has
a commercial airport. Denver is an approximate 3± hour drive. Westcliffe
has a jet-capable airport.

and has a nice mix of low grassland that leads uphill to the taller pine
tree stands, then continuing into the San Isabel National Forest. From
there you may access your own private “Gateway to the Sangres” … a
recreational paradise. The San Isabel National Forest is one of the
largest pieces of public lands in the entire state. Hunting, hiking,
horseback riding, exploring or just observing the many forms of flora

desires. The ranch is located at the intersection of CR 124 and CR 125,
and lies to the northwest from this point. The ranch is easily managed

has been used primarily as a cattle grazing operation for many years.

RECREATION
This area of Southern Colorado has many recreational opportunities,
such as:
« Golfing: Golf at the famous St. Andrews at Westcliffe, a small valley golf course offering challenge and beauty. Pueblo, about an hour’s drive away, offers three courses to play. Colorado City, also about an hour away, has a beautiful course. Colorado Springs, around 90 miles away, has many courses from which to choose. Cañon City/Florence, about a half an hour away, also has golf courses.
« Skiing: Wolf Creek, Crested Butte, Monarch, Taos and Red River are all about two to three hours away. Summit County, Colorado, offering the best skiing in the country, is about a three to four hour drive. Vail, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone and A-Basin all are in Summit County. Aspen is about a two and a half hour trip up Highway 82.
« Camping: There are endless opportunities to camp, either in a tent, RV or cabin. This area of Colorado has many campgrounds, state parks and recreational areas as well as the Rio Grande and San Isabel National Forests.
« Hunting: Big game hunting abounds in this part of the state for deer, elk, antelope, black bear and mountain lion. Small game hunting for rabbit, squirrel and migratory birds and fowl is also available here.
« Fishing: With Lake DeWeese is only a few miles from the property, as are many other lakes, streams, rivers and reservoirs in Southern Colorado. There is always somewhere a person can go to wet their lines. Cold water fish like trout and warm water fish, such as bass, walleye and pan fish, are all available in the area.
« Hiking: The National Forests have maintained trails for hiking. Consult any forest service office for maps and information.
« Sightseeing and shopping: Westcliffe offers many different shops from antiques to souvenirs. The valley has many quaint little towns offering shopping and sightseeing. The Great Sand Dunes National Monument is about an hour drive; the alligator farm and Great Sand Dunes geothermal swimming and therapy pool are open year-round and are only an hour’s drive.
